We are now recruiting for a Project Engineering Manager to join us permanently on our major projects.
As Project Engineering Manager, you will:
- Have a solid understanding and ability to apply relevant safety legislation, including Construction Design and Management (CDM), Principal Designer requirements, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Review and manage control of design on a project: production of Design Control Plans (DCP), design review management, and input; design change control.
- Produce appropriate engineering deliverables: Bases of Design (BoD), analysis, calculations, drawings/diagrams, specifications.
- Manage and coordinate technical risk management activities: risk management strategy and planning, risk identification and assessment, risk mitigation, risk register production and maintenance.
- Coordinate the management of requirements: understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements identification, configuration control, validation, and verification.
- Manage and coordinate the development of engineering delivery baselines: scope definition, input to project management deliverables (WBS, schedule, estimate, etc.), project execution plan / engineering execution plan.
- Coordinate oversight of project delivery and reporting: rules of credit, progress monitoring, reporting, and recovery planning.
- Engage with and oversee delivery partners and supply chain organizations: specification of engineering and technical requirements, technical assessment of tenders, management of TQs and concessions, management of supply chain deliverables.
- Understand and provide input to the project delivery lifecycle, including nuclear industry standard gated delivery processes.
Responsibilities (nuclear specific engineering):
- Experience and knowledge of UK nuclear site license conditions, especially those related to engineering.
- Knowledge of configuration-controlled nuclear baseline throughout the project facility lifecycle.
- Experience with nuclear site license company procedures.
- Knowledge of the generic nuclear new-build safety case: stages, key deliverables, design change control, engineering deliverables.
- Solid knowledge of UK nuclear facility operational safety case: design change control, configuration management, facility modification, periodic review of safety.
- Knowledge of the design substantiation process and interactions with the nuclear safety case.
- Experience with quality control and the relationship between nuclear safety and the project lifecycle.
- Knowledge of UK nuclear and environmental regulators and their interactions with UK nuclear site license companies.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Ideally, a Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, or demonstrated equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Possession or working towards professional membership of a relevant chartered body.
- Proven experience in a complex/major project engineering delivery environment, including managing a single-discipline engineering delivery team and supply chain organizations.
- Currently hold SC clearance or willingness to undergo the SC process.
