A leading vegetable grower in the Three Counties is looking for a committed and capable Crop Manager / Assistant Operations Manager to join their team. With over 800 hectares of brassicas in production, this is a great opportunity to take real ownership of a crop from planning to harvest. This is a hands-on role focused on crop performance, quality, and continuity of supply. You will work closely with the Farm Manager and wider team to manage day-to-day growing operations, support harvest teams, and ensure production targets are met efficiently and sustainably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crop Management
- Lead the planning and day-to-day management of broccoli production
- Monitor crop health and progress through regular field walking
- Work closely with agronomy and fertiliser partners to deliver spray and fert plans
- Schedule irrigation and oversee the seasonal irrigation team
- Provide accurate crop forecasts to the commercial team
- Ensure all health, safety, and food safety standards are upheld
- Monitor team performance and working hours during harvest
- Support with seasonal staff accommodation and general team welfare
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in crop management, from planting through to harvest
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Understanding of irrigation systems and scheduling
- A proactive approach to health & safety and compliance
- Confident using Microsoft Office; experience with Gatekeeper or similar software is a bonus
- BASIS and/or FACTS qualifications are advantageous but not essential
