PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE, is currently seeking applications for the position of Product Manager in Safety Workwear, on a full-time permanent basis reporting to the Regional Sales Manager. Founded in 1904, Portwest has become one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world, currently employing over 5,300 staff worldwide. With 1400 styles across more than 20 ranges, we design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities. We’re on a mission to become the world’s most requested PPE and Safety Wear Brand.
As the Product Manager in Safety Workwear, you will research and develop the product roadmap for a significant range of safety workwear. This role will involve research, range planning, product development and quality control. You will be accountable for the end-to-end life cycle of products within your range. Build a growth-focused product strategy for your range, including reviewing the current product range, price points and marketing, and building a plan to drive the continued growth of this portfolio through new product development and product improvement.
Fully embrace the Portwest Product Management model and impart this on your team. Close liaison with Marketing to promote Portwest technical content and branding. Train the Sales Team on the offer and how to present it. Keep abreast of legislative changes in PPE and ensure all products are fully compliant with the appropriate legislation. Regularly review brand, range and product performance. Maintain close links with Supply Chain to ensure goods are shipped on time and to manage excess stock. Work with procurement on improving costs and intelligent sourcing from both existing and new vendors. Represent Portwest at events and forums, focus groups, ASM visits, trade fairs, etc. Lead and be fully responsible for the end-to-end development process, including gap analysis, sampling, tech pack creation and production.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years + relevant industry experience in a product development focused role.
- Degree in fashion design, textiles or similar.
- Experience working with taped seam garments highly desirable.
- Highly numerate, commercial individual.
