Position Overview

  • Location: London
  • Corporate Title: Assistant Vice President

The Kannon Middle Office (KMO) team partners closely with Trading, Global Strategic Analytics (GSA), Finance, and Operations to facilitate the delivery of accurate and complete trader Risk and PL (RPL) on the Bank’s strategic valuation platform. We directly support the Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) business, ensuring that technical and operational issues impacting intraday trade bookings, and end-of-day risk tie-outs are quickly substantiated and resolved. The team supports multiple Front Office desks, overseeing intraday trade monitoring and end-of-day orchestration. Members are responsible for investigating the root causes of issues and inefficiencies and for delivering immediate solutions where possible. Coverage spans Rates, Credit, and Emerging Markets businesses, with product types including Derivatives, Over-the-Counter (OTC), Exchange-Traded, and Cash instruments. You will have a strong working knowledge of these products and good understanding of how they are priced.

You will work directly with trading and operations sitting on the trading floor to ensure trade bookings are complete and correct intraday, proactively monitor for discrepancies, orchestrate the end-of-day close, and assist in the substantiation of position risk tie-out.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor intraday trade bookings to ensure completeness and accuracy in Front Office systems.
  • Support the end-of-day close process, investigating booking issues as needed.
  • Liaise directly with Trading, GSA, and Infrastructure teams to escalate and remediate breaks.
  • Investigate root causes of operational issues and inefficiencies, proposing immediate solutions where possible.
  • Contribute to improving trade processing workflows, with a focus on control and automation.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of key product types (Interest Rate Swaps, Index and Single Name credit default swaps (CDS), Bonds, Futures).
  • Assist with the substantiation of PL variance.

Your Skills And Experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/work in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
  • A relevant professional qualification (Chartered Financial Analyst/Associate Chartered Accountant (CFA/ACA) preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Middle Office, Product Control, or Risk and PL role within an investment bank or financial institution.
  • Good product knowledge across Fixed Income and Credit derivatives.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to engage confidently with Trading and Infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Logical thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Python for automation is an advantage.
