Working as a Direct Care/Residential Counselor at the Wediko New Hampshire Hillsborough campus involves working with children and teens facing emotional and behavioral challenges. The work is intense and emotionally demanding but offers a profound impact on young lives and personal growth. Your Role: Building a Transformational Experience As a Residential Counselor, you will work directly with youth in a therapeutic, residential setting, helping them develop skills, build trust, and work toward stability. You will be supported by clinicians and educators but will make the most consistent impact daily. You will: Build meaningful relationships with students, balancing support, structure, and empathy Help manage behavior according to each student\’s Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) Participate in group therapy and recreational activities Ensure safety, supervision, and emotional containment during crises Provide consistency, encouragement, and accountability Engage in daily campus life, including therapeutic moments, meal prep, activities, and transportation Support medication administration and daily documentation What You\’ll Gain Skills development in human services and behavioral health Mentorship from licensed clinicians Experience to advance careers in social work, psychology, or education Personal growth through facing challenges and celebrating successes Who We\’re Looking For Someone with heart, patience, and resilience At least 2 years of experience working with children or adolescents, or 7 years of parenting experience High school diploma or equivalent Strong communication skills and a good sense of humor Team player capable of working independently and staying calm in crises Ability to complete CPI and medication training Valid driver\’s license and safe driving record Impact Corps Residential Counselors can enroll in The Impact Corps, a fellowship program offering training, industry experience, and bonuses up to $5,000 upon completion.
