The Ethics and Independence (E&I) team are part of the Quality and Risk Management Risk Operations Group, responsible for monitoring the firm’s and its individuals’ compliance with professional risk management and quality control policies, procedures, and guidance. The group also works with the wider Quality and Risk community and across the KPMG network to exchange knowledge, develop, and improve processes and procedures in response to emerging regulatory, business, and other requirements.
Within the Risk Operations Group, there are four teams responsible for Partner and colleague independence, communicating UK policy, process, and guidance on Ethics & Independence, and providing guidance and advice to partners and colleagues on these matters.
What will you be doing?
- Managing the day-to-day operations of four teams responsible for Partner and colleague independence.
- Consulting with relevant Ethics and Independence colleagues and supporting senior management to improve compliance levels.
- Ensuring processes are carried out in accordance with timescales, overseeing preclearance, helpdesk, independence teams, and data teams.
- Acting as a secondary escalation point for non-standard queries, understanding and applying KPMG policies and relevant regulations.
- Identifying and escalating breaches of personal independence requirements, providing management information, and fostering process improvements.
- Managing initiatives to enhance compliance, overseeing data collation for risk metrics, and driving system and process changes due to regulatory updates.
- Acting as a performance manager for team members, ensuring career development, engagement, and motivation, and leading ad-hoc projects related to Quality and Risk Management.
What will you need to do it?
- Client-focused with a passion for excellence, empathetic, and understanding of issues faced by clients and colleagues.
- Experience in applying regulatory and firm policies related to Financial Investments and compliance.
- Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work autonomously and take responsibility.
- Supportive team-player with coaching, mentoring, and decision-making abilities.
- Pragmatic, logical, detail-oriented, and able to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately.
- Prior experience in compliance or audit roles is advantageous.
