The post holder will be trained in our busy Endoscopy Decontamination Unit, working Monday to Friday at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital from 16:00 to 20:00. Candidates will be appointed at Band 2 and progress to Band 3 upon completion of training.
The Endoscopy Decontamination Unit comprises a Manager, two Supervisors, and 13 technicians across two sites at the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals. It is a busy department serving various Service Users, including Urology OPD, Endoscopy Unit P floor, Weston Park OPD, etc.
Flexibility is essential, as staff may be asked to change shifts, cover additional hours, or work at the other site due to staff absences. This role involves testing and manually cleaning flexible endoscopes before placing them into a washer disinfector, unloading, and storing the scopes. You will deliver clean endoscopes and collect contaminated ones from Service Users across the Trust, with quality checks and tracking via a computer system.
