North Middlesex NHS Hospitals is seeking a driven and experienced nurse to join their committed and fast-paced clinical team for a new line of work for both day and night duties in Canterbury Ward. Despite seeing on average 2,000 patients a day, over 500 in their busy A&E department alone, North Mid prides themselves on their ability to consistently provide world-class standards of healthcare and a caring approach to every one of their patients.

After being fully modernised with a £200 million investment, North Mid has state-of-the-art facilities including a world-class service for sickle cell and thalassaemia patients, with other specialist services including HIV, cardiology, blood disorders, diabetes, and fertility. This is a superb opportunity for a nurse to diversify their clinical experience across these specialities while challenging themselves to reach their utmost potential within this busy and fast-paced clinical environment.

This role is ideal for a candidate with robust clinical knowledge who thrives in a busy, hands-on environment and who is seeking to learn from some of the UK’s leading specialist healthcare professionals.

Clinical Duties:

  • Assess patient care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of patient care and participate in the evaluation of these.
  • Carry out all relevant forms of care to designated patients and supervise learner nurses and Health Care Support Workers.
  • Care and control of medication and controlled drugs used for patient care, being aware of the systems used for safe administration, the ordering and maintenance of stock.
  • Ensure work with the Trust/unit and ward policies in order to maintain professional, clinical and patient safety.
  • Acquire the knowledge and expertise to take appropriate action in emergency situations and attend mandatory/compulsory update sessions.
  • Have in-depth knowledge with practical experience of good hand hygiene and environmental cleaning in conjunction with North Middlesex University Hospital trust policies and procedures.
  • Be aware of the principles of infection control and the prevention of cross infection in relation to patient care and the clinical environment.
  • Be able to communicate basic care information and answer queries to patients, their relatives/carers and the multidisciplinary team members.

Requirements:

  • NMC Registration
  • At least 6 months NHS experience in the last 3 years
  • Strong clinical knowledge, good initiative, and a proactive approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Honesty and integrity, and a caring patient-centred approach
