The predicted salary is between 38000 - 57000 £ per year.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the UK’s busiest international ferry port. With a growing and diversifying cargo business operating from state-of-the-art facilities, a brand-new marina which is a major feature of the exciting waterfront development, and opportunities for further expansion.

Responsibilities include:

  • As a VTSO you will ensure the safety of navigation and the protection of the environment within the limits of the Port in accordance with the requirements of the Port Marine Safety Code.
  • You will monitor and regulate the movement of all vessels within the port and its jurisdiction and advise masters/pilots of passing vessels or other movements during their passage.
  • Allocate berths to vessels entering or manoeuvring within the port in accordance with schedules where pre-planned.
  • Arranging in conjunction with the Duty Harbour Master the allocation of berths for unscheduled arrivals including lay-bys for repairs, de-storing etc.

The Port operates 365 days per year, and you will be required to work a shift pattern of days and nights averaging 42 hours per week.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree level education, or demonstrable experience in operational management and planning.
  • Must be able to achieve a CO103/1 certificate.
  • Must have previous experience within VTS or comparable industry or Officer of the Watch as defined by STCW.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Analytical and technical aptitude and be able to demonstrate good spatial awareness.
  • Be able to work shifts to include days and nights.
  • Willingness to work overtime if required.

You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered. The successful candidate will receive a starting salary of £47,500 plus excellent benefits which include 23 shifts annual leave (equivalent to 6.6 weeks), generous contributory pension scheme, discretionary annual bonus scheme, private health care, life assurance and more.
