This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our fabrication work, part of a project of national significance, while working with and learning from a team of experts. We’re launching a new 12 month project that will be both challenging and demanding. Are you ready to make an impact?

We’re looking for a Project Engineer to work on a range of activities from test procedures to writing up tech specs that will drive the successful execution of pre-planned fabrication projects.

Who are A&P Tyne? With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can build units for vessels, and also join them together. Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where your projects will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas. Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control, we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.

So what will you do? With your Project Manager, you’ll develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management for fabrication projects. You’ll provide technical guidance and solutions to project challenges through reviewing and refining drawings and specifications. With the fabrication team, you’ll coordinate materials, tools, and equipment to meet project requirements. Supporting the Project Manager, you’ll monitor, maintain, and report progress and financial achievement of the project. You’ll identify potential bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to keep your projects on plan. With each project, you’ll finalize and document all project paperwork, including arranging project wash-up meetings.

And what are we looking for? Competency with MS Office and planning tools (MS Project). Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Experience in an engineering/structural engineering/shipbuilding environment. Qualification at HNC/Degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline. Commercial experience and knowledge of project management principles.

Why join us? Financial Security - Important benefits include your Pension, which features a monthly employer contribution by A&P Tyne up to 4%, and Life cover at 7x your basic salary. Healthy Living - At A&P Tyne, we support healthy living and provide help when it's needed. We offer sick pay and a health cash plan that covers everyday healthcare costs, including dental, optical, physiotherapy, and wellness services. Work-life Balance - We offer 25 days of annual leave per year plus Bank Holidays, along with Maternity, Paternity, and Parental leave to support you during significant life changes.

Due to the nature of our work with some customers, some roles at A&P are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions may limit the roles you can perform based on factors including nationality, previous nationalities, and place of birth. You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
