Contract Scotland are working with a well-established main contractor to source an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Central Scotland. Delivering high-profile projects across a range of sectors including commercial, leisure, residential, healthcare, and more, they have a proud history in the Scottish construction market.

This is a great opportunity to join a busy contractor with a strong reputation for investing in the long-term development of their staff. You’ll be working alongside experienced commercial professionals on multi-million-pound projects, with clear progression opportunities towards QS and Senior QS level.

As Assistant QS, you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Supporting the commercial team in the day-to-day quantity surveying functions on live projects.
  • Assisting with cost planning, procurement, valuations, and the preparation of interim and final accounts.
  • Working closely with site and project management teams to ensure commercial objectives are met.
  • Subcontractor management, including assessments and payments.
  • Assisting in identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering initiatives.

To Be Considered For This Role, You Will:

  • Be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying.
  • Have 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role within the construction industry (experience with a main contractor is preferred).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Be motivated, proactive, and keen to learn and develop.
