Dalgliesh Ward at Melton Mowbray Hospital has 17 beds and is nurse led which will give you high levels of autonomy and satisfaction in leading a service and delivering excellent patient care. The ward provides sub-acute care, medical step down and palliative care as well as rehabilitation.

The post holder will take overall responsibility for care quality performance and clinical activity by providing professional nursing leadership, guidance and clinical advice in relation to the key dimensions of health care quality: patient safety, effectiveness of healthcare interventions, patient experience and the care environment. You will also ensure the delivery of a clinically effective service which meets the needs of individuals, families and communities in line with local and national development plans, Trust policies and procedures.

Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities)

  • Professional and managerial accountability and responsibility for the ward and services delivered.
  • Management of budgets, quality and standards of practice.
  • Management of the team and ward performance by utilising systems such as clinical supervision, personal development, competency planning and monitoring, clinical audit and policy compliance checks.
  • The post holder will ensure staff are appropriately trained to deliver the care required and ensure supervision and mentorship is in place.
  • The post holder is influential within the organisation and provides detailed advice to others internally and externally to the organisation, within their sphere of competence.
