Placement counsellors provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation committed to the BACP ethical framework, counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being.

Place2Be offers high-level support through supervision, tailored training workshops, and a recognized clinical placement. Comprehensive induction and daily supervision are provided. You need to be available for at least one day per week to work with up to 3 children in one-to-one counselling sessions. Placements are during term time only, lasting one academic year, with opportunities for extension. You may attend up to six optional CPD-recognized workshops annually. Sessions count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation with bodies like BACP and UKCP. Many of our clinical staff started as placement counsellors. Opportunities are available in primary and secondary schools nationwide.

Counting your hours

Clinical hours gained can contribute to accreditation. Check with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your program. If not, you may apply for a second placement with us to gain experience.

Place2Be promotes equal opportunities and encourages applications from all backgrounds, especially Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities. We are also keen to attract male candidates to reflect community diversity. Successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS/PVG check.

Note: Please apply for only one vacancy, which is your location preference; this can be changed later.
