About the role:

A Mental Health Support Worker helps individuals struggling with mental health issues by offering support and guidance in their daily lives.

Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:

  • Provide personalised support to students with complex mental health, anxiety, and behaviour needs, making sure their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) are followed.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create an engaging curriculum that addresses mental health and behavioural challenges, including outdoor activities.
  • Foster a caring learning environment that supports students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being, focusing on anxiety and behaviour issues.
  • Administer medications according to school policies and safety guidelines.
  • Provide personal care, such as help with hygiene and bathing, while always respecting the students’ dignity.
  • Encourage students to become more independent in their daily activities.
  • Assist students in fully participating in classroom activities by using effective communication techniques as guided by the teacher.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • A good understanding of the different needs related to mental health, anxiety, and behaviour.
  • The ability to adjust teaching methods to fit the unique needs of each student, especially those dealing with mental health issues.
  • A patient and caring attitude when handling challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and open mindset while working as part of a team with different professionals.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
