We are currently supporting an impressive business based in Sheffield as they look to recruit an Assistant Manager within the accountancy firm. This role will be responsible for preparing accounts, reviewing VAT and tax returns, and acting as a senior member of the team, supporting junior colleagues. You will support the Director with ad hoc tasks, making this the perfect step up for someone looking to progress!

Main duties/responsibilities:
- Reviewing the quarterly VAT returns
- Maintaining own client base for quarterly VAT portfolio, ensuring records are requested, received, and processed in time to meet filing deadlines
- Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships for manager review, including balance sheet reconciliations of bank accounts, PAYE, VAT, corporation tax, directors loan accounts, etc.
- Preparing self-assessment tax returns for limited company directors, sole traders, clients with rental properties, or other reasons for filing a return
- Managing own workloads, prioritising deadlines, and liaising with the manager/director of the department
- Assisting the manager/director with ad hoc tasks, specifically HMRC enquiries
- Training and assisting junior team members
You will have:
- Strong experience within an accountancy practice
- Qualified by experience or AAT qualified/part-qualified ACA/ACCA
- Experience with accountancy software such as Xero, QuickBooks, IRIS (preferable)
