Your New Team & Role:

O’Hanlon & Farrell Contracts Ltd is one of Northern Ireland’s long established leading Electrical & Building contractors with over 40 years of valuable experience within numerous sectors, including the Industrial, Commercial and Domestic Construction sectors, throughout Ireland and UK. O’Hanlon & Farrell is seeking to create a new and exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accountant. With the company’s continued growth plans there will be the potential for increased responsibilities and therefore career progression. You will receive comprehensive training & mentorship to develop your skills and knowledge in accounting and finance. You will be involved in various aspects of financial management, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the Preparation of Quarterly Divisional Management Accounts
  • Assist with Preparation of Year End Management Accounts (incl. Audit Pack)
  • Assist Quarterly Balance Sheet Reconciliations (incl. Backup)
  • Help with Statutory Government returns ie. VAT, RCT & CIS
  • Monthly Bank Reconciliations
  • Support the finance/admin team in day-to-day tasks.
  • Develop ability to process UK CIS & ROI RCT Based Subcontractor Payments
  • Manage accounts Receivable.
  • Conduct financial analysis and assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Working closely within the Finance Team & Financial Controller on all key financial aspects of reporting within the business.

Qualifications/Essential Skills:

  • 3x A Levels (or equivalent) to include Maths and/or Accounting Grade C or above
  • Relevant Degree (No Essential but Desirable)
  • Prior internship or experience in an accounting role (No Essential but Desirable)
  • Excellent systems skills including a strong grasp of Excel.
  • Deadline driven & a team player
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail & problem solving
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eager to learn and develop professionally within the accounting field.
