The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows supporting activity at our other centres. All fellows joining our team have been encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education. For those who already have this there will be an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course). Funding will be available towards supporting this. Main duties of the job The post would be based at Royal London Hospital which is part of Barts NHS Trust. However, there will be an expectation for the post holder to support activity across all sites. The contract is 12 months, fixed-term and is 40:60 teaching and clinical. 40% of the time will be dedicated to Education Delivery and the other 60% will be as a trainee in the Adult Critical Care Unit. This would typically suit anyone wishing to undertake further training in intensive care medicine and education prior to or as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their Specialist Registrar training programme. It is essential for applicants to have experience working within an NHS Intensive Care Unit. Consideration will also be given to those trainees who have completed their core training in any base specialty and the clinical commitment adjusted accordingly. The post will have opportunities to be involved in other teaching programmes including QMUL critical care MSc programme, Foundation Trainees, interdisciplinary simulation training, and medical student teaching. The post holder would be responsible for their own personal development plan, with regards to both service and educational work. Regular appraisal must be undertaken with their clinical supervisor, and the Simulation Team. Person specification Qualifications GMC REGISTRATION MBBS ALS /ATLS/APLS Higher Medical audit relevant to stage of training ATLS/APLS Final FRCA/FFICM/ EDIC Experience Clinical background of either EM/ACCS/ICU/AM working in an NHS setting Previous experience in delivering education, ideally in an inter-professional setting Evidence of expert clinical skills & ability to work outside traditional boundaries Experience of involvement in research/written papers/public presentation Knowledge Basic knowledge of educational theory Computer literacy: word, excel, power point Skills Ability to teach a wide range of both clinical & non-technical skills Ability to interact well with all members of a multi-professional team & at all grades of seniority Demonstrate commitment & enthusiasm to the provision of quality & innovative education Ability to adapt teaching approach to suit the grade, seniority, profession & individual learning needs of trainees Understanding and knowledge of research and ability to interpret research papers Publications in critical care journals or areas of specialist interest Demonstrate sensitivity & support in difficult training situation Ability to discuss & teach knowledgeably & confidently on all aspects of clinical acute care Demonstrates both self-motivation & ability to motivate others Ability to take initiative & problem solve Other Demonstrable interest in health or other relevant researches Demonstrate commitment & enthusiasm to the provision of quality & innovative education Work flexibly to ensure training is delivered appropriately Ability to work seamlessly across disciplines, specialities and sites across the Trust Ability to handle conflict and work within a team Demonstrate self-motivation and ability to motivate others #J-18808-Ljbffr
