Job summary An exciting opportunity to work as a Locum Consultant in Paediatric Radiology is available in the Department of Radiology at Birmingham Children\’s Hospital. The appointee will join an existing team of 15 Substantive Consultant Paediatric Radiologists. This is a full-time, fixed-term 12-month post. Main duties of the job The successful applicant should be trained in all aspects of Diagnostic Paediatric Radiology and will participate in the general Paediatric Radiology on-call rota. The department supports sub-specialty interests, and the appointee\’s interests will be accommodated. Responsibilities include attending multidisciplinary meetings and working across various imaging modalities. Flexibility in work hours is required. Details Date posted: 13 May 2025 Pay scheme: Hospital medical and dental staff Grade: Consultant Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 per annum Contract: Locum, 12 months Working pattern: Part-time Location: Birmingham Children\’s Hospital, Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham, B4 6NH Job description Job responsibilities The contract comprises 9 Programmed Activities (PAs), equivalent to 36 hours, with 7.5 PAs for direct clinical care and 1.5 for supporting activities. Job plans are reviewed annually, and the on-call commitment is 1 in 13. The appointee will have direct clinical care sessions across all imaging modalities. A provisional timetable is provided but is flexible and subject to change. Person Specification Qualifications (Essential): Full GMC registration Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligibility within 3 months of interview Desirable: Higher degree Fellowship/membership of a medical/surgical college Relevant experience (Essential): Training and experience meeting RCR subspecialty training in Paediatric Radiology Desirable: Training in a recognised paediatric centre of excellence Fellowship in Paediatric Radiology Attendance at a management course Interests and motivation (Essential): Interest in Paediatric Radiology Publications or presentations in the field Desirable: Experience in audit, research, and teaching Personal qualities (Essential): Teamwork, excellent communication skills Commitment to professional development Desirable: Leadership skills Other requirements This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check and UK registration.
