An opportunity to work on one of the first enterprise Generative AI projects of its kind anywhere in the world. Our client, a leading AI consulting firm, has recently expanded into the UK and is partnering with a FTSE 250 company to deliver a groundbreaking AI transformation programme. This project is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of enterprise-scale AI adoption, working with AWS cloud-native event-driven architectures that will shape the future of AI-powered data streaming and automation.

The Role

As an AWS Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, deploying, and optimising event-driven architectures in an AWS cloud environment. You will work alongside AI specialists, DevOps engineers, and data teams to build highly scalable, real-time data streaming solutions that drive AI-driven automation and decision-making. This is a client-facing role, requiring:

  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A high-energy approach, working in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively with clients and internal teams

You will be expected to spend two days per week on-site in London’s financial district, with remote work available for the remaining three days.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong expertise in AWS cloud services, with practical experience or theoretical knowledge of AWS MSK (Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka)
  • Deep understanding of Kafka (Apache Kafka, Confluent Kafka) and event-driven microservices architecture
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch)
  • Familiarity with data streaming frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Flink, or Spark Streaming
  • Knowledge of security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and role-based access control
  • At least 5 plus years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or backend platform development
  • Hands-on experience with AWS MSK is ideal, but candidates with strong Kafka expertise and a willingness to upskill in AWS MSK will be considered
  • Multi-cloud experience (Azure Event Hubs, Google Pub/Sub)
  • Experience with alternative messaging and queueing systems (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Redis Streams)
  • Hybrid cloud or on-prem Kafka deployment experience
