WHAT YOU’LL DO:

We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join our Data and Analytics team and play a key role in building and supporting our enterprise-grade data platform using Microsoft Fabric and Azure technologies. This role focuses on platform reliability, infrastructure scalability, and performance optimisation, ensuring that our data solutions are robust, secure, and ready to support diverse analytics and data products across the organisation.

The ideal candidate is someone with a strong background in cloud-based data platform architecture, infrastructure automation, and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) operations, who is working with cutting-edge technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Contribute to design, implementation, and maintenance of our Microsoft Fabric-based data platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Manage and automate deployment processes for data platform components (e.g., Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Pipelines) using best practices.
  • Optimise platform performance, storage, and cost efficiency across cloud components.
  • Ensure platform availability and monitoring, proactive resolution of platform-level incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with IT colleagues and Data Engineers, Data Architects, BI Developers to enable seamless onboarding of new data products and pipelines.
  • Enforce data platform governance, compliance, and security policies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of platform engineering practices, standards, and documentation.
  • Support platform integration with enterprise systems and services.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Solid experience with cloud-native data platforms, ideally based on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Hands-on skills with Azure services such as: Azure Data Factory / Pipelines, Azure Synapse / Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, OneLake, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Monitor, API Manager, Azure Security, Azure DevOps, CI/CD.
  • Strong command of infrastructure automation tools.
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Good understanding of networking, identity/access control, and platform security in the cloud.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles, data lifecycle management.
  • An experience of working with multi-cloud configuration will be an advantage.
  • Proven experience in data platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure for data platforms.
  • Evidenced experience supporting production-grade, scalable cloud data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or similar modern data stack.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications will be an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science / information technology, or related field.
