The Role

Are you ready to take up an excellent opportunity at Bolton Council, as Executive Support Team Leader? You’ll be leading a strong team of Personal Assistants who provide support to the organisation’s Senior Leadership. It’s a wonderful chance to help deliver a high level of efficiency to the organisation, which in turn will contribute to the service the Council provides across the borough of Bolton.

You will take up the management of approximately 15 Personal Assistants, providing guidance to and development of the team to underpin their work, while deploying standardised processes and procedures to facilitate consistent and high-quality service. You’ll work with the team to identify and secure ways of achieving proactivity in their executive support, while being a catalyst for continuous improvement. By virtue of the job, you’ll become familiar with a wide range of activity across all the Council’s directorates, liaising with individuals at all levels of the organisation. There will be opportunity to implement innovative approaches to problem solving and driving improvement in the Council. The role reports to the Deputy Director of the Corporate Resources directorate.

About You

You may come from either a public or private sector background, but you will have amassed strong team management experience to lead and develop a large and accomplished team. You’re likely to be driven by a deep sense of customer service and have an insatiable appetite to achieve the right outcomes while seeing your team flourish. You will be exceptionally organised and are a natural Completer-Finisher. You’re bound to be comfortable with looking for new ways of work to help the team and the delivery of their executive support. Part of this will translate into you being at ease with applying technology, taking a Digital-oriented approach, while maintaining and fostering a culture of value-added support from the Personal Assistants.

All in all, you are likely to be a superb team player, motivated by helping and seeing the colleagues around you achieving success, and more broadly by making a significant contribution to Bolton Council.

You will need:

  • Proven success at team leadership and development, having a natural gift to engage, inspire and support your team.
  • Experience of working as a Personal Assistant and/or leading a Personal Assistant, Executive Support or similar team.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, at all levels of the organisation.
  • To be results-driven and innately inclined to seek and realise improvements.
  • Team spirit, tenacity, and focus on delivery!
