Location – Stevenage
Our purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. As a Linux Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our live services. We require an experienced Linux engineer seeking to build skills in current and new technologies. You will join our established team supporting customers' IT systems. This is a customer-facing role, so excellent communication skills are essential. You will support high-profile customers through the implementation and configuration of complex IT solutions.
Your role:
- Receive & review customer-related system issues via a ticketing system and resolve issues to maintain system operational states within SLA and KPI targets.
- Review and produce documentation, record processes to enable first-time fixes and quick resolutions.
- Monitor system status and report issues promptly to service management and relevant teams.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction by clarifying needs and ensuring they are met within your support role.
- Provide support for servers & applications, utilize automation, build images, and configure Linux Servers.
- Develop strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, KSH) and nurture junior team members through training.
- Contribute to new work requirements as directed by Service Delivery Managers.
- Become security cleared to a high level.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 0700 – 1900, with rotating early or late shifts (e.g., 0700-1530 & 1030-1900). Opportunities for shared work from home when permitted.
Your experience and skills:
- Good understanding of IT support, teamwork, and communication.
- Experience with Linux systems, legacy Unix OS (Solaris), RHEL (5.x to 9.x), Debian (10.x, 11.x).
- Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, KSH, Ansible).
- Experience with VMWare, backups (NetApp, San, Cohesity), and understanding of security frameworks.
- Knowledge of hardware components and system performance analysis.
