Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading energy transaction structuring and negotiations, utility procurement, energy project development or finance/consulting roles.
  • Experience in European power markets (e.g., Transmission and Distribution System Operations) and carbon-free energy technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience structuring and negotiating 24/7 carbon-free-energy transactions.
  • Experience with off-grid solutions for electricity generation and supply (e.g., behind the meter, private wires, etc.).
  • Experience with energy supply onsite generation solutions or carbon-free advanced technologies (e.g., long duration storage, carbon capture, hydrogen, geothermal, etc.).
  • Ability to think innovatively and propose commercially and technically creative solutions.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous, collaborative, and fluid environments.

About the job:

As Google's products and services grow to serve our billions of users, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future. It involves everything from operating underwater cables to finding data center space. In this role, you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership. In this role, you will analyze and communicate trends, and evaluate supply, investment opportunities, and agreement structures. You will work with project teams to support transactions, energy portfolio planning, and vendor and partner relationship management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead regional energy strategy, assess risks and opportunities for Google's data center portfolio, and build a carbon-free energy procurement program to meet Google's clean energy goals in the region.
  • Lead transaction origination, structuring and negotiations for energy supply agreements, carbon-free energy purchase agreements, power infrastructure, and other data center energy agreements, including interconnection agreements.
  • Build relationships with energy vendors, identify new solutions and opportunities for partnership or expansions in collaboration partner teams.
  • Collaborate with a variety of energy and infrastructure team members (e.g., site selection, portfolio managers, analytics, etc.) and cross-company partner teams (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Legal, Accounting, etc.).
  • Perform analyses (e.g., agreement structuring, power market analysis, financial forecasting), and develop salient recommendations based on modeling.
