Our Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) Technical Discipline is one of the largest in SLR Australia and includes over 35 Hydrogeologists. We currently have a great career opportunity for a Junior Hydrogeologist (or environmental scientist/field technician with an interest in hydrogeology) to be part of our NSW / APAC business and have flexibility to be based out of either the Newcastle, Sydney, or Wollongong offices. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry, and Power, with a focus on resource projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Providing customized hydrogeological site investigations tailored to the needs of diverse mining and civil clients throughout Australia.
- Supervising geo/hydrogeological drilling operations.
- Infield hydraulic characterisation of surface and groundwater regimes.
- Designing, installing, and maintaining surface and groundwater instrumentation.
- Overseeing installation, development, and sampling of monitoring bores.
- Generating comprehensive factual reports based on field and laboratory data.
- Analysing interdisciplinary scientific data to support the broader technical team.
- Cultivating and strengthening relationships between internal and external clients and SLR team members.
- Playing a pivotal role in securing projects by ensuring excellent service delivery, identifying client needs and opportunities, and sharing insights with the broader team.
Skills and Experience:
- The ability to travel regularly and for extended periods for work.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team, coupled with the capacity for self-motivation and the willingness to take responsibility and be accountable for the successful completion of tasks and projects.
- Tertiary qualifications from a recognised institution in water resources/hydrogeology/geology or related discipline or similar relevant degree is preferred; however, alternative learning/work experience would also be considered with 0-2 years’ of demonstrated field experience in applied geological, geotechnical or groundwater projects.
- Proficient written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely.
Beneficial:
- A strong desire to contribute actively to a collaborative team who strive to deliver high-quality geological and hydrogeological assessments.
- Experience in the construction and/or mining sector would be highly regarded.
- Experience with using GIS and spatial data analysis software packages would be highly regarded.
- Experience in supporting key aspects of project management and administration, as well as subcontractor and HSE management.
- A high level of competency in all aspects of groundwater field work.
- Experience in surface water and hydrological assessments is desirable.
- Experience in the contaminated land sector is desirable.
- Strong client relationships and business development skills.
- Previous 4WD experience and training is highly desirable.
