PURPOSE OF ROLE: The M&A Analyst is responsible for providing insights and support to the IMServ M&A processes, covering deal origination, deal pipeline management, valuation and returns calculations, live opportunity execution, and post-acquisition integration activities. This role involves complex financial modelling, including sensitised forecasting, funding structures, and managing data/information flows to support IMServ's M&A strategy and ensure financial objectives are met. The M&A Analyst will work closely with the Corporate Services Director and other senior management and external advisors involved in M&A and corporate financing.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process Building and continuous improvement: Using technology, including AI/ML, to automate and enhance IMServ's M&A processes.
- Process Management: Collaborate with the CSD to run, often in parallel, the M&A processes, including coordinating internal and external workstreams.
- Financial Modelling: Build financial models to assess the sustainable financial performance of acquisition targets, including scenario analysis.
- Internal (Board) & External stakeholder (Equity & Debt sources) Presentation: Support the CSD in presenting status, risks, mitigation strategies, and recommendations.
- Business Partnering: Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Innovation, and Field teams to share best practices, financial insights, and drive growth and efficiency.
- Performance Tracking: Develop and monitor KPIs to measure strategy effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Knowledge & Qualifications
- A qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) with post-qualification experience.
Skills
- Proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, Oracle).
- Strong understanding of financial statements, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an advantage.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting to non-financial stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Business Acumen
- Understanding of commercial operations and decision-making based on financial insights.
- Experience with Private Equity and stakeholder management is highly advantageous.
- Experience in SaaS and energy markets/infrastructure is a plus.
