Package: £38,000 - £57,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience).

Let us introduce the role: The Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) Operations team are looking for an experienced specialist to work within the Communications and IT team who manage and maintain all of the secure communications and IT systems used by AWE staff to support the response capabilities that NTR are involved with, whilst supporting other government departments. This can include training, exercises, and real deployments.
Within this role, you will be required to support the through life management which can include:
- Contributing to specifying user and systems requirements
- Procurement, implementation through to full operational capability
- Training, maintenance and break down, and correct disposal
We are looking for someone who has knowledge in the use of such systems.
Who are we looking for? We would welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate knowledge or experience in several of the following:
- Extensive operational experience of using such systems
- Knowledge and experience of through life management
- A detailed working knowledge of the security requirements for such systems
- An understanding of accreditor requirements and how these are applied practically
- Knowledge and experience of requirements and restrictions for compartmented systems
- Experience of developing company policy and procedure to ensure compliance in the use of such systems
In addition, it would be desirable for candidates to have the following:
- The ability to work efficiently with minimal guidance from the leadership team
- Proven ability to communicate well (both written and verbal)
- Experience of establishing excellent working relationships with key internal stakeholders
- An ability to work comfortably in a high-pressure environment
- Knowledge to be able to influence decisions
- Willing to identify and undertake continuous improvement activities to develop the capabilities of NTR
- Driving licence
The requirement of this post will also require the successful applicant to undertake travel across the UK and also abroad if required; and to work extended periods away from home.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
