Job title: Legal Administrator
Location: North London (office based)
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Reporting To: Head of Law
A well-established law firm is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Administrator to support its legal team in delivering a broad range of services. The successful candidate will assist with litigation, landlord & tenant issues, conveyancing, client communication, and company secretarial duties, as well as contribute to marketing and credit control activities.
This role is ideally suited to someone with a background in residential property or conveyancing who thrives in a busy legal environment and has a strong grasp of legal procedures, excellent organisational skills, and a confident approach to client interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal & Casework Support
- Assist fee earners with case progression, including litigation cycle tasks, court deadlines, and evidence submissions
- Provide support on landlord & tenant matters, including breach letters, lease consents, and property-related legal documentation
- Cover for team members when absent, including handling sales enquiries and post-completion matters related to ownership and share transfers
Client Communication & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships via regular updates, newsletters, and arrears notifications
- Manage client expectations around case timelines and delays
- Contribute to lead generation and client engagement through social media and digital marketing initiatives
Administrative & Operational Duties
- Maintain the firm’s internal jobs database, including job set-up, document tracking, invoicing, and file closing
- Ensure compliance with internal standards (e.g., ISO 9001) regarding filing, archiving, and documentation
- Coordinate internal team diaries, including key legal and court-related deadlines
Company Secretarial Responsibilities
- Arrange AGMs and maintain statutory records (e.g., officer and shareholder registers)
- Prepare and file confirmation statements
- Issue share and loan certificates, and assist in managing client ownership registers
Finance & Credit Control
- Monitor office cash flow and assist in ensuring timely payment of client invoices
- Help resolve outstanding balances in coordination with bookkeeping and legal staff
Skills & Competencies:
Essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Excellent organisational, research, and drafting skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple matters
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service focus
- Confident communicator with a problem-solving mindset
Desirable
- Familiarity with residential property law or conveyancing processes is highly desirable
- Knowledge of leasehold legislation, landlord & tenant law, and property transactions
- Legal qualification or training (e.g., Law degree, CILEX)
- Marketing or CRM database management experience
- Familiarity with Companies House and Land Registry systems
