About the Role:
We are working with a highly regarded and purpose-driven law firm to assist them in finding a Head of Conveyancing to lead their established conveyancing practice. The role will involve overseeing three specialist teams—plot sales, home ownership, and right to buy. While a good level of technical conveyancing knowledge is important, this role is first and foremost a senior leadership position requiring strong team management, strategic oversight, and service excellence. You’ll be responsible for enhancing performance, maintaining high client service standards, and supporting business growth across a portfolio of complex residential property matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the plot sales, home ownership, and right to buy conveyancing teams.
- Drive improvements in quality of work, compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Supervise legal work across:
- Shared ownership and outright sale plot sales
- Right to buy and right to acquire sales
- Auction sales
- Property sales, resales, and purchases
- Staircasing, lease extensions, deeds of variation
- Requisitions and post-sale queries
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience leading a volume conveyancing team with a track record of operational and financial success.
- Strong team management capabilities, including performance improvement and mentoring.
- Solid understanding of conveyancing legal principles, particularly relating to high-volume residential work.
- Experience acting for Housing Associations is advantageous but not essential.
- Commercially aware and able to manage both team performance and client service standards.
- Comfortable working in a data- and KPI-driven environment.
- Excellent organisational, drafting, and stakeholder communication skills.
