Teach and coordinate teaching in the dance program at least two days per week and coordinate the schedules of any additional teachers to cover a full five-day program. Set and manage an overall artistic and pedagogical vision for the dance program. Develop seasonal choreography plans, skill-building goals, and showcase preparation. Ensure differentiation for varied student experience levels and appropriate training for dancing for the school community. Work with the Arts Department Chair and the Director of Technical Theater to oversee two dance company performances yearly. Work with the Arts Department Chair and the Director of the Afternoon Program and Athletics for hiring needs and management of the dance instructors.
Supervision Of Others: Manage and schedule 2 dance instructors for the afternoon program.
Requirements: A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching high school students of varying skills and levels; comfort with a variety of dance styles, including ballet, tap, hip hop, and modern dance; and substantial experience teaching dance composition. Specific experience teaching in a school setting is a plus. Must show a demonstrated interest in social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion work through the arts and have experience creating equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist spaces through teaching.
