Experienced Paralegal – Property Insurance Department: CSG – Property (Insurance / Damage / Recoveries / Subsidence) Employment Type: Permanent Location: Birmingham Description We are looking for a number of Paralegals to join our market leading CSG team that works with over 40 insurance companies and self-insured corporates. This role will be situated in Birmingham on a permanent basis. Depending on your level of experience you might be asked to come into the office 5 times a week before moving to a hybrid model of working upon successfully passing probation. Key Responsibilities You are expected to provide a timely, professional and high-quality service to our clients in the management of claims. Depending on your role, and with the support of a supervisor and team manager you will be expected to: Be responsible for a varied caseload of pre-litigated or litigated work. Screen matters for prospects and liaise with clients upon receipt of instructions. Review instructions and provide client advice on case prospects. Resolve claims through negotiation and litigation within client service standards. Instruct experts and counsel, draft Witness Statements and other Court documents. Maintain contact with our clients and their Customers whilst proactively managing their expectations. Meet individual performance measures (financial performance, realisation rates and other KPIs). Ensure that the DAC Beachcroft brand and standards are maintained. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise We are happy to hear from graduates or those with customer service/retail experience who are team players and have the passion for learning. We\’d also like to hear from Paralegals who may already have experience working in a legal environment. You will have; Prioritisation and Organisation Skills – the ability to structure your time well, prioritise work effectively and recognise when to ask for help. Interpersonal skills – communication skills to liaise with clients, intermediaries and colleagues on the phone and in person. Analytical skills – The ability to critically look at factual evidence, identify key legal arguments and apply the same. Commercial sense – The ability to know the principle or law but also know when is it worth pursuing it. Resilience – The ability to stand their ground in a telephone negotiation and to receive feedback. Commitment and enthusiasm – with a professional attitude.
