Essential Duties:
- Gathers information, creates, maintains and disseminates files both public and confidential, develops and distributes reports, performs data entry and typing, and processes transactions into systems.
- Organize, analyze, comprehend, coordinate, index and maintain large amounts of identification data to ensure accuracy and completeness of criminal files within multiple Records Management Database software systems.
- Maintains compliance with the Kansas Open Records Act, Kansas Offender Registration Act and Sheriff's Office policies and procedures.
- Reviews discrepancies in data; confirms and determines accurate data, updates, revises and modifies data as needed.
- Research the identification of suspects and arrest records by implementing proven analytical methods, utilizing knowledge of general police procedures and the justice system.
- Utilize JIMS, REJIS, NICHE, JIMS Web, NCIC and KCJIS to research and correct data errors.
- Completes document imaging process and expungements of crimes.
- Function as a liaison with other police agencies, courts, county and municipal prosecutors and the KBI to exchange and update information on criminal history records.
- Report non-compliant registered offenders to Investigations and any registered offender information changes to the KBI.
- Assist and guide registered offenders with any issues and/or concerns regarding their duty to register in Johnson County or with questions concerning registered offenders as they are registering.
- Train and educate staff and County Departments on proper procedures to ensure proper individual identifiers are recorded on suspects, arrestees, and defendants.
- Maintain current knowledge and analytical records methods by reviewing literature and communicating with other staff.

- Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of administrative support.
- Preferred Requirements: Knowledge of public sector. Experience working with public safety records systems, including NICHE, NCIC, KCJIS, etc. Experience may be substituted for degree. Education may be substituted for experience.
