We are looking for an exceptional leader to take on the prestigious role of Chair at Red Tractor Assurance. Location: London Term: 3 years with the option for a second term The Organisation Red Tractor is the UK’s largest food chain assurance scheme, setting standards and ensuring compliance at every stage of the chain, to reassure consumers that food is produced safely and responsibly. The Red Tractor logo is the most trusted food mark among UK consumers. Red Tractor’s standards cover animal welfare, food safety and environmental protection, and all Red Tractor produce is traceable back to UK assured farms. The logo is used widely in UK retail, branded and food service markets. Over 600 packers and businesses are licensed to use the logo which appears on about £17 billion worth of product every year and they have over 46,000 UK farmers in their network. Red Tractor’s purpose is for Red Tractor Produce to be everyone’s first choice for food and drink by being reassuringly British, safe and farmed with care. The Role Red Tractor is seeking to appoint a new Chair to provide input and guidance to the leadership and direction of the company, all during a pivotal time for both farm assurance and the UK food supply chain. The role requires the Chair to lead the Ownership Body and the Board in meetings, set and agree the business plan, annual objectives and review the CEO’s performance against these key criteria. The Chair is a key figurehead within UK food and farming, interacting with Government, consumers, farmers, growers, food manufacturing and all major food retailers and food service operators. The Chair will be expected to have a detailed knowledge of the food supply chain but also be significantly detached to be seen as independent by all major stakeholders. This appointment will come at a key time following the publication of the Independent Commissioners Assurance Review. The Candidate We are searching for an exceptional leader to take on the prestigious role of Chair at Red Tractor Assurance. This pivotal position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the food supply chain and a genuine appreciation for its diverse stakeholders. As Chair, you will bring proven experience in managing complex and varied stakeholder relationships. You will demonstrate outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills and you will have a strong grasp of Board dynamics, ensuring balanced and productive discussions.
