Job Overview

Managing and leading the Rota Team to ensure the provision of high quality patient care by providing safe levels of staffing including on call and out of hours across all specialties. Proactively manage the recruitment of Trust grade doctors to the medical division, ensuring timely advertising, interviews and onboarding process coordination. Lead on Bank and Agency usage across medical areas, ensuring Trust escalation process is embedded, and bank workers are in place where feasible as the preferred option to agency workers. Ensure all bank staff undertake appropriate mandatory training in line with Trust guidelines and lead on regular data cleanse of the bank staff, identifying shortfalls in compliance and ensuring all staff on bank are available and able to work.

Main duties of the job

  • Be responsible for the leadership and line management of the Rota Co-ordinator team.
  • Chair daily Rota Team meetings to plan and highlight operational concerns, bringing issues to the Team Manager for discussion and action.
  • Liaise with Medical Education and Divisional teams for recruitment planning, aligning with junior doctor rotation dates.
  • Work with the Team Manager / Medical Education team to address NHSE gaps through proactive recruitment.
  • Support review of medical ward establishments.
  • Report regularly on temporary staffing spend and contribute to divisional workforce meetings.
  • Work with Workforce Transformation to ensure value for money in staffing.
  • Support implementation of Roster systems, providing leadership and guidance.
  • Lead monthly payroll processes and liaise with payroll department for any discrepancies.
