Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is looking for an enthusiastic, practical, creative landscape architect to help shape the future of Scotland’s forests and land. The landscape team forms part of a national Planning & Environment team. We work closely with regional teams in a wide variety of ways, to plan the future management of the land to meet multiple objectives.
We take a collaborative approach to planning and designing the forests of the future, facilitating large scale spatial planning and strategy. We work to bring together and integrate a wide and fascinating variety of functions and land uses including sustainable timber, woodland creation, deer management, peatland and rainforest restoration, renewable energy, and visitor facilities, while maintaining stewardship of habitats, wildlife and archaeological treasures. FLS is responsible for managing 9% of Scotland – you can learn more about how we plan our land management here.
In addition to supporting land management planning, the team also advise on regulation, policy and contract matters, as well as specialist advice on landscape and visual amenity, and landscape design. The team promote effective project management, and work with forest planners to facilitate stakeholder consultation and community engagement.
