Backhaul Transport Engineer

Job Title: Cell site Ethernet Backhaul Transport Engineer Location Options: Wallingford, CT or Medway, MA Role Focus: The engineer will focus on configuration and documentation of Ethernet backhaul routers and switches used for wireless fronthaul and backhaul , with a particular emphasis on Nokia routers . Required Skills: Transport/WAN Network Engineering Experience: Previous experience working as a Transport or WAN network engineer . Routing & Switching Knowledge: Advanced understanding of routing and switching hardware/software , especially with Nokia or Alcatel products (such as IXR-E, 7705, 7750-A8, 7750-SR7, 7750 SR12). 5G Virtualized RAN Understanding: Familiarity with 5G Virtualized RAN deployments . IP Network Knowledge: Strong knowledge of IP networks , including subnetting , routing protocols , MPLS , and hands-on CLI interface experience. Circuit/Path Inventory Systems: Previous experience using tools like Granite/XNG , CND , or similar inventory systems. Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills: Certifications: Nokia Certifications (NRS, SRA, MRP) CISCO Certifications (CCNA, CCIP, CCIE) DWDM Optical Systems Experience: Experience working with systems like Ciena 6500 and Fujitsu 9500 . Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering , Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering , Electronics Engineering , or equivalent military experience. Wireless Voice & Data Services Experience: Experience with CDMA and LTE services. Test Equipment Experience: Experience with JDSU and EXPO spectrum analyzers and OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) . Nokia Router Tools: Familiarity with Nokia router translation tools such as Service Portal . Granite Expertise: Advanced experience with Granite network management tools. Hybrid Role: 2 days per week in-office at either Medway, MA or Wallingford, CT . Remote Work: The engineer can work remotely for the other 3 days of the week.
