The Talent Set is proud to be partnering with Versus Arthritis to recruit a dynamic and driven Philanthropy Officer. This pivotal role will be instrumental in executing and advancing the charity’s ambitious plans to grow income from major donors. The successful candidate will lead on building and nurturing relationships with high-value supporters, delivering exceptional stewardship, and helping to shape the long-term success of Versus Arthritis’s philanthropy programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of high-net-worth donors, cultivating relationships and securing gifts to support Versus Arthritis’s mission.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a mid-value giving programme, engaging and stewarding donors giving up to £10,000 annually, with tailored communications and engagement strategies.
  • Identify, research, and develop a pipeline of new major donor prospects, using data-driven insights to assess capacity and propensity to give.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across Services, Research, and Income & Engagement to create compelling cases for support and ensure accurate, impactful reporting of donations.
  • Ensure full compliance with fundraising regulations and data protection laws, including GDPR, while maintaining accurate donor records in the CRM system.
  • Champion the voice of philanthropists within the organisation, ensuring their needs and motivations are reflected in engagement strategies and internal planning.

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience in donor engagement, including writing compelling proposals, stewarding prospects, and presenting projects tailored to audience interests.
  • Sound understanding of philanthropic fundraising, including donor motivations, financial literacy, and the value of fostering a culture of giving.
  • Strong research and database skills, with the ability to identify major donor prospects and maintain accurate supporter records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft bespoke messaging and confidently present to diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and proactive, capable of managing multiple priorities and working independently while contributing effectively to a team.
