Research Nurse Clinical Coordinator

The BMDI Cord Blood Bank (CBB) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part Time Research Nurse Clinical Coordinator to oversee and coordinate all aspects of cord blood collection activities. This role is vital in ensuring that the collection process adheres to the highest quality standards in accordance with the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and meets the requirements set by the FACT-Netcord International Standards for Cord Blood Collection, Banking, and Release for Administration.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the practicalities of cord blood collection and ensuring the highest quality of the cord blood product. You will also maintain day-to-day communication with hospital staff in maternity services, as well as with the processing laboratory to ensure seamless coordination.

Your responsibilities include:

• Oversee and coordinate all cord blood collection activities in line with regulatory and industry standards, including cGMP and FACT-Netcord guidelines.
• Ensure the collection of cord blood units of the highest quality for stem cell transplant purposes.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with maternity services and hospital staff to ensure smooth cord blood collection operations.
• Liaise regularly with the processing laboratory to ensure that collection and processing workflows are coordinated and efficient.
• Provide support and guidance to hospital staff involved in cord blood collection to ensure proper protocols and procedures are followed.
• Assist with donor recruitment and ensure compliance with ethical standards and consent processes.

What we need from you:

• Registered Nurse with relevant qualifications and clinical experience, preferably in maternity or neonatal care.
• Strong understanding of clinical research and/or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
• Applicable Nursing Registration – Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both clinical teams and laboratory staff.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and maintain attention to detail in a high-pressure environment.
• Previous experience in cord blood collection or stem cell transplantation would be advantageous but not essential.
• Applicable Midwifery registration.
• Have an interest/experience in infectious disease screening.
