What We Are Looking For To support our continued growth at over 20% annually, we are seeking experienced reliability and functional safety engineers to further strengthen our Systems Engineering services capability. If appointed, you will join a dedicated PDSVISION solution team providing dependability consultancy to a strategic client undertaking a long-term national infrastructure project within nuclear engineering. To deliver against the project’s requirements, it is essential that dependability is considered early in the development process, to ensure that operational availability and safety goals are met for the life of the facility. Consequently, you will be responsible for the implementation of risk management-based dependability principles, focusing on one of three pillars of Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M), Reliability Centre Maintenance (RCM) and Functional Safety. Depending on your experience and depth of technical skills, we are offering roles at both Senior and Principal level. Reporting to a functional lead, at both levels you will be expected to manage the delivery of your own work, undertake quality assessments of outputs generated by the team and coach more junior staff members. As a Principal Engineer, you will also manage the work of others and provide more holistic mentoring across the team. Minimum Requirements: Relevant degree in an engineering, science, mathematics or similar discipline. Extensive knowledge and practical experience in a range of systems-level risk management techniques, such as: Reliability Block Diagrams FMEA and FTA HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA RCM, MTA and LoRA Demonstrable management skills and experience including: Managing projects and staff as required to deliver on-time to the right quality. Managing data across teams, to ensure that the most up to date information is available and utilised. Identifying, engaging and managing stakeholders across a range of project functions. Project and time management, able to (i) organise own work schedules and deliver on-time (ii) manage delivery of work by colleagues (as Principal Engineer). Ability to review the work of colleagues in a constructive and supportive way while ensuring the quality of output from the team is maintained. Ability to identify, extract and communicate relevant data required for the role. Ability to recognise, understand and apply relevant industry standards and regulations. A Systems Engineering mindset, able to identify and model physical and organizational factors influencing reliability and safety of products and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver high quality reports and present clearly and convincingly to technical and non-technical audiences at a senior level. Coaching and mentoring of colleagues, including junior engineers and new recruits. Self-motivated, ability to multi-task and with the drive to achieve objectives. Confident, flexible and inclusive team-player who can solve problems with initiative. Commercial reliability engineering and/or mathematical software. Nuclear safety case development and regulations. Asset Management. Due to the nature of the project work, you will need to be a British National and be able to achieve the necessary security clearances.
