To help support Amentum’s worldwide $14B F25 forward looking workload and our portfolio of complex and exciting geotechnical projects within the Defence, Nuclear Power, Environment and Government-Owned Critical Infrastructure industries, we are now looking to grow our Ground Engineering capabilities within the UK and are seeking to recruit Geotechnical Design Engineers at a range of experience levels including:
- Geotechnical Design Engineer
- Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer (Chartered or approaching)
- Principal Geotechnical Design Engineer (Chartered)
- Associate Director Geotechnical Design Engineer (Chartered)
We are operating under flexible working arrangements, with a mixture of office-based and home working environments. Bristol office would be the preferred base-office, although other offices, such as Oxford, Reading, London or Glasgow can also be considered.
As a Ground Engineering Professional within Amentum, you will play a critical role in managing ground risk by delivering geotechnical assessment, analysis, design and construction supervision to a diverse range of existing and future projects across the UK and internationally. This work will involve:
- Preliminary Source, Feasibility, value engineering, innovation and sustainability studies
- Land and overwater ground investigations including advanced in situ and laboratory testing and data management
- Ground characterisation, parametrisation and modelling of soil and rock
- Numerical and FE analyses of geotechnical problems, including seismic and dynamic analysis
- Geotechnical analysis and design of innovative and sustainable structures such as:
- Routine and complex design within soil and rock, SSI and seismic SSSI
- Deep and shallow Foundations, Retaining walls, Basements and Cofferdams
- Earthworks, reinforced earth and geotextiles
- Ground Improvement including vibrational, mixing and grouting methodologies
- Ground anchors, soil nails, rock bolts etc.
Provide guidance, support, and supervision to team members, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of bids, ensuring all requirements are met and proposals are compelling and competitive.
Stakeholder Management: Support management in maintaining effective communication and relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
For the right ground engineering candidates there are opportunities to develop at all levels within our organisation. This would include taking on responsibility for team management, mentoring of junior team members and business development opportunities.
Here’s What You’ll Need: We are interested in seeing your profile if you have experience and competence with a selection of the following:
- Ability to work independently or within multidisciplinary groups
- Strong technical knowledge of ground engineering with a focus on geotechnical design and technical leadership relevant to your experience level
- Geotechnical analysis and design undertaken in accordance with British Standards and Codes of Practice such as BSEN1997, BSEN1991, BSEN1990 etc.
- Ground Investigation
- Soil and rock mechanics
- Complex geotechnical analysis, design, specification and technical reporting involving some of the following:
- Deep / Shallow foundations
- Basements, retaining structures, and reinforced earth
- Excavations, earthworks, and ground treatment
- Soil / Rock Reinforcement and ground anchors
