As Character Manager, you will manage the entire daily onboard operation of the World Famous Disney Characters including appearances, events, and programs. You will lead a team of performers in compliance with the Character Programs and Development standards to ensure the Character Brand, integrity and use. You will report to the Assistant Cruise Director.
Responsibilities:- Provide leadership, coaching, and recognition for all direct reports.
- Provide feedback, coaching and discipline for all direct reports including, but not limited to mid and end of contract reviews.
- Ensure the Character Brand, integrity and use with all Character events, activities, photo shoots, and special events.
- Uphold the 5 keys by focusing on Safety, Courtesy, Show, Inclusion and Efficiency.
- Partner with Entertainment Leadership Teams Shoreside on brand concerns, height ranges, training, performer schedules and show quality issues.
- Act as the Shipboard main contact for Character recovery.
- Communicate with all departments involved with Character events.
- Educate internal departments on Character integrity.
- Build and communicate Character Ticketing Grids for Bookable Events.
- Monitor Guest Satisfaction Measurement scores and propose opportunities for improvement.
- Positively motivate teams in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
- Perform Stage Management responsibilities when necessary including operational decisions in altered performance environments.
- Minimum three to five years leadership experience in Entertainment operations within the last five years.
- Previous Disney Entertainment Operations experience working as a Character Performer, Character Manager or Entertainment Manager within the Disney Company.
- University degree or related course work associated with recreation, education, entertainment, or a related field of study desirable.
- Experience leading and motivating a team while organizing and prioritising the team's goals.
- Previous performance experience beneficial.
This is a SHIPBOARD role. Benefits offered year-round, on contract and off-contract, as long as return contract is signed, including Major Medical Coverage, Short & Long Term Disability, Life Insurance and Retirement Savings Plan Option.
You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel.
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan.
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control.
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations.
Your Responsibilities:
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this).
- Complete a pre-employment medical.
- Obtain a criminal background check.
- Bring approved work shoes.
