Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented VAT & GST Registration Specialist to join our Tax Compliance team in London. This role supports our clients in managing global VAT and GST compliance, including registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing tax authority communications. The successful candidate will be instrumental in preparing and submitting registration packs, liaising with international tax offices, and ensuring our clients’ tax records remain up to date.
You will handle VAT/GST registrations across various jurisdictions and ensure compliance with changing tax authority requirements. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong organisation, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under time-sensitive conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage VAT/GST registrations and deregistrations in multiple jurisdictions globally such as UK, Europe, Australia & New Zealand and Canada
- Prepare and submit registration applications and supporting documents to international tax authorities
- Conduct initial AML checks on new clients
- Maintain and update internal systems
- Gather documentation and information from clients for VAT/GST registrations
- Act as the primary point of contact for tax offices and clients, both verbally and in writing
- Proactively follow up with authorities for registration progress and address additional queries
- Chase clients for outstanding documentation and provide timely updates on registration status
- Handle incoming post and draft responses to clients and authorities (for review)
- Work closely with the client success managers and sales teams to ensure seamless onboarding of clients
- Support internal compliance by following company policies and procedures
- Contribute to research on VAT/GST registration thresholds and requirements in new jurisdictions
- Assist with ad hoc administrative tasks as required
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in VAT/GST compliance or indirect tax administration
- Prior experience with international tax registrations and liaising with tax authorities
- Working knowledge of registration requirements and thresholds across global regions
- Familiarity with AML checks and documentation standards
- Previous administrative or client-facing experience in a professional setting
