Role Purpose To provide expert advice, undertake complex case work, represent the Local Authority in high-profile situations, and proactively contribute to the leadership and management of the Housing Options, Move-On, and Homeless Prevention service for residents requiring housing assistance. The post-holder will lead a service delivering housing options advice, including low-cost home ownership, homelessness prevention, and statutory assessments. The operational delivery will be accurate, flexible, and responsive to client needs, ensuring team plans and performance targets are met, fostering a culture of resident-first service and continuous improvement. The role involves leading strategic service improvements and collaborating on cross-cutting priorities, including working with social care services to support family move-ons and understanding housing impacts on other services. Job Description People Management: Responsible for selecting, developing, and managing project teams within the Housing Service and other areas, ensuring engagement and performance. Representation: Act as a senior officer representing the service publicly and internally, improving service delivery and stakeholder relations. Policy Implementation: Support policy and strategic actions, identify performance improvements, promote modern practices, and target service weaknesses for enhancement. Performance Management: Challenge and resolve poor performance within the team. Experience Significant experience in a demand-led, front-facing team involving client interviews and assessments. Experience with complex case work and case management systems, including independent reviews. Proven track record at a senior level in Housing or similar organizations. Experience in developing and implementing innovative, cost-effective solutions and service improvements. Experience managing complex projects with multiple partners. Budget management experience. Knowledge & Skills Comprehensive understanding of relevant policies and strategies, including: Hillingdon\’s housing and homelessness strategies and related sub-strategies. Hillingdon\’s health and wellbeing strategy. Social housing allocations policy. The Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI & VII). Central government guidance and codes. DWP guidance and benefits regulations.
