The GSI business specializes in selling DC transmission systems globally, managing Project Management, Construction, and Commissioning of HVDC Onshore and Offshore projects. HVDC technology is used for long-distance electricity transmission, submarine power cables, and connecting power systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead testing & commissioning of HVDC projects, adhering to GE Vernova safety standards.
- Organize commissioning teams and processes for HVDC systems as per project plans and procedures.
- Coordinate with project teams, product experts, and client representatives to ensure effective site operations.
- Ensure proper protocols with construction and installation teams, focusing on HVDC equipment like valves and transformers.
- Manage diverse commissioning teams and engineers across various product lines.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of substations and auxiliary systems, including offshore platforms.
- Handle troubleshooting and testing of auxiliary systems such as batteries, UPS, and HVAC.
- Configure and test control & protection networks, relays, and IEDs.
- Manage telecoms, HMI, and SCADA commissioning processes.
- Draft and organize overall HVDC grid connection system commissioning, including offshore integration and trial runs.
- Report progress to project management and control budgets.
- Validate test reports and manage asset utilization.
- Oversee handover procedures and ensure accurate as-built documentation.
- Prior experience with HVDC systems and fault analysis is advantageous.
- Commit to continuous learning in HVDC testing & commissioning.

Your Background
- Significant experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of HV power networks, operation, and faults.
- Knowledge of control, protection, substation, and automation system design is a plus.
- Experience with Omicron test kits and specific HV equipment testing.
- Experience with HV AC and DC cables, including submarine cables.
- Exposure to HVDC/FACTS systems.
- Experience in contract review and technical bidding.
- Proficiency in office tools.
Training & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Willingness to undertake GWO offshore training.
- Leadership skills for managing diverse teams.
- Valid UK driving license.
