About The Role

As a Senior Residential Practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children and young people can thrive. You will work as part of a dedicated team to empower young people to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential, whilst supporting the development of junior colleagues.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide high-quality care to children and young people, tailored to their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive home environment that promotes emotional, social, and educational development.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging resilience, confidence, and independence.
  • Support children in day-to-day activities, including education, recreation, and life skills development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and professionals to deliver effective care plans.
  • Handle challenging situations with empathy, professionalism, and patience.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and regulatory standards.
  • Provide supervision, training and support to residential workers.
  • Be a role-model to colleagues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Previous experience in residential care, childcare, or working with young people is essential.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or a willingness to work towards this qualification).
  • Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attributes: Compassionate, resilient, and committed to the wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
  • DBS: All staff are required to have an Enhanced DBS. Ideally, being on the DBS update service is desirable.
