This role will involve maintaining and repairing a variety of plant equipment to ensure smooth operations and maximum uptime.
Job Description: As a Plant Fitter/Mechanic, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing various types of plant machinery and heavy equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring the operational efficiency of our fleet, diagnosing mechanical issues, and performing repairs on-site or in the workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and repairs on plant machinery, including specific types of machinery, e.g. excavators, loaders, forklifts.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, ensuring that repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Perform breakdown repairs and carry out preventative maintenance programs.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Collaborate with the wider team to ensure the availability and reliability of machinery.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, following all necessary procedures for equipment handling.
- Support the planning of maintenance schedules and parts ordering.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter/Mechanic or in a similar role.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy plant and machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Experience with welding and fabrication is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or plant maintenance preferred (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
