We are looking for an experienced Technical Animator - Mid or Senior Level - to join a well-known, Midlands based, UK studio who are highly respected throughout the games industry. As a Technical Animator, you will be working on the studio’s upcoming action-adventure project and also on their highly successful, flagship title which has enjoyed sustained success with a growing player base and legions of adoring fans around the world. This role is ideal for a problem solver with a creative technical mindset. You will join the studio’s Technical Animation team and work directly with the Engineering team, supporting the Art, AI, and Game teams to build animation systems for runtime. You will be using Unreal to create higher standards of animation across a wide variety of unique and stylised characters and be involved in R&D into new and emerging animation technology.

Please note, this is a full-time, 18 month, contract position.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with Designers and Engineers to understand and implement gameplay animation features.
  • Supporting Engineers and game dev teams to fix game issues, troubleshooting animation graphs and artwork.
  • Being mindful of any performance issues and being responsible for making performance improvements.
  • Advising on and creating tools to improve workflows and asset quality.

The skills and experience you will bring to the role:

  • Proficient in creating Animation Blueprints inside Unreal using Blendspaces, State Machines and Control Rig is essential.
  • A background in Technical Animation for games.
  • Experience in runtime animation in-engine, setting up locomotion or actions for characters and creatures.
  • Expertise in Unreal 5 and animation skills.
  • Experience in the development of location and character control systems.
  • Completed a full game development cycle.

For this 18 month contract role you should be:

  • Based in the UK and hold the right to work in the UK.
  • Able to complete the full 18 month PAYE contract.
