Superb opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for variety and ownership in their next role. This position offers the chance to work across multiple projects—typically 4 to 5 at a time—spanning a few weeks to several months. Take full responsibility for the mechanical design of precision components and assemblies, from concept through to manufacture, within a successful and well-established firm serving a global client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and develop 3D and 2D CAD designs for manufacturing (using SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Take ownership of designs from initial concept through prototyping and into full production.
  • Design precision parts and assemblies with a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and how products are manufactured.
  • Provide technical input and guidance to cross-functional departments including QA, assembly, and purchasing.
  • Collaborate closely with shop floor and production teams to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., milling, turning, bonding, moulding, assembly, jigs, and fixtures).
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills; able to engage with both internal teams and external clients to gather and translate requirements.
  • Prior exposure to or appreciation of hands-on manufacturing processes is highly advantageous.
  • Background in manufacturing with a transition into mechanical design is ideal.
