We are a small, dynamic team of five based near Heathrow Airport, and we’re looking for a driven and knowledgeable professional to join us. Operating in a fast-paced environment, we need someone with strong expertise in imports and a solid understanding of exports, who can bring energy, adaptability, and a proactive approach to our growing team.
The Role
- Supervise all Airfreight with a hands-on approach at various stages and from start to finish
- Creating and maintaining customer standard operating procedures
- Having a clear financial understanding of each job file(s) within your remit
- Having ownership and taking accountability to support the team in delivering operational excellence
- Ensuring that customer service is maintained at a high level
- Delivering accurate and timely paperwork in relation to the creation and issuance of import documentation
- Demonstrating commercial acumen and an in depth understanding of the P&L of a job
- Ensuring timely and accurate freighting and invoicing
- Managing operational and financial reports, ensuring anomalies are escalated appropriately
- Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers, airlines & overseas partners/agents
- Supporting the Operational Manager in ensuring Metros\’ policies and procedures are adhered to
General Skills
- Solid freight forwarding experience in airfreight, imports and export knowledge would be helpful
- Familiarity with handling air movements from start to finish
- Experience of managing client/customer and carrier relationships with strong verbal and written communication
- Experience of overseeing staff in a high pressure environment whilst retaining the capacity to remain calm under pressure and have the ability to motivate and develop people
- The ability to prioritise a large number of tasks to ensure accuracy, and deliver results with great attention to detail and a high sense of urgency
- Knowledge and experience of customs is desirable
- Strong work ethic
- A ‘can do’ attitude is applied with all communications
- Cargowise experience highly beneficial
- Supervisory experience is desirable, but not mandatory
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong numerical and commercial skills
- Excellent usage of computer / operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office)
