Network Engineer (Contract) – London, UK

\”Global Futures and Options Ltd (GFO-X)”, a UK FCA-authorised and regulated MTF, is seeking a Network Engineer to join our growing team in London, UK.

GFO-X is the UK\’s first regulated and centrally cleared trading venue dedicated to digital asset derivatives. GFO-X has partnered with LCH SA which will offer clearing of Bitcoin index futures and options contracts traded on GFO-X, subject to regulatory approval. This will be made available through a new segregated clearing service, LCH DigitalAssetClear. GFO-X services large global institutional participants who require a regulated, institutional-grade trading venue for digital asset derivatives, including bitcoin index futures and options.

The successful candidate will be joining the Infrastructure team, reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure. They work with developers, project stakeholders, and operations, to build the network infrastructure for an institutional grade fully UK-regulated trading venue for digital asset futures and options.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision of Exchange infrastructure, including switches, routers and firewalls
  • Working with products from Cisco, Arista, FS.com, Fortinet
  • Second-line support of exchange infrastructure
  • Provision of monitoring, management, and alerting of Exchange infrastructure
  • Provision of support to the Exchange Operations team to assist in daily exchange operations and resolving operational issues
  • Working with the Security team to implement corporate security policies to ensure our IT environments adhere to internal and industry-standard policies and practices
  • Propose and lead projects that improve our production environments
  • Creation of technical documentation
  • Contribution to Exchange design and architecture discussions
  • Working shifts may be required, as may on-call support

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in administering and deploying network solutions in similar industries
  • Experience with configuring and managing resilient, low-latency environments is particularly welcome
  • Demonstratable skills with standard network protocols: OSPF, BGP, BFD, VRRP, HSRP, RSTP
  • Working knowledge of multicast architecture and protocols including PIM-SM and IGMP v2
  • Experience in the configuration of multi-VRF environments
  • Exposure to configuring the Zabbix monitoring platform or similar
  • Familiarity with firewall appliance management (Fortinet preferred)
  • Capable of interacting with different teams throughout the organization and with external clients to identify/resolve technical issues in a professional and effective manner
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for processes and systems
  • Experience in managing vendors
  • Experience in proposing and evaluating new hardware and software solutions
  • Strong command of spoken and written English
  • Previous working experience in a Financial Services/FinTech environment, or similar high-pressure industry.
