We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal to join our Clinical Support team in Manchester. You will be supporting fee earners in the setting up of files and retaining of customers, ensuring a pro-active and high level of client care and compliance with the National Practice Standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Under supervision manage client matters according to NPS and ensure a high level of client care.
  • Provide legal and administrative support to fee earner(s) on their client matters.
  • Speaking to clients concerning preliminary enquiries and investigation of their matters.
  • In collaboration with fee earners and Managers, setting up funding/retainer packs for clients and undertaking/completing risk assessment in new matters.
  • Reviewing healthcare complaints & other documents to support the new case intake decision makers.
  • Providing administrative support to litigation nurse & midwife.

About you:

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic legal concepts learnt from legal education such as undergraduate law, LLM, LPC, GDL or ILEX study; or equivalent work experience; or successful completion of the Paralegal Apprenticeship scheme.
  • Understanding of clinical negligence law and practice.
  • Experience within clinical negligence / Medical experience team desirable.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and relevant practice and business IT systems, particularly Partner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to think logically and analytically.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work from various stakeholders.
  • Proactive & aware of the need to deal quickly with new enquiries to avoid loss of potential clients to competitors.
